I have toyed with the idea of putting out a comp sometime and I just can’t seem to make up my mind. There are all kinds of reasons that make sense to put one out, but then again, who really listens to the things? Then there is the whole, do we do it with ONLY Riotous Records bands or do we do it with anyone who is accepted? I have also thought about doing one of just music from the state of Kentucky since we are not only based here in the middle of the state, but also because you never hear much about bands from Kentucky, but there are TONS of them! I know if I were to put one together, I would do everything in my power to make sure that there are more changes in quality and style of music as possible. I hate comps full of the same kinds of music for 50 minutes, but by all different bands that when mashed together onto one album all sound the same. Plus, there is no real way for a band on a comp to make anything, usually bands actually PAY to be on a comp. The loss of money is great, but the exposure for all the bands who otherwise may not ever be heard by someone who bought it for a few bands on it they like is priceless. So now my personl problem with putting out a comp can also be yours. Should we do it, or should we just leave it alone? Would you buy it if we put it out?

Well, I wasn’t really going to start work on an album that I would consider my “solo” album any time soon, but I tracked a song this morning that is that start of just that! I have too many other things going on to say that this will be something I will have done any time soon, but who knows. The song only took about 3 hours to write, record and mix. I hate to perfect things and I hate taking too long on anything when it is my own stuff. Go figure. Imaine how much better I could do if I just took the time to develop and write a song properly. Well, I will never know because I don’t take myself seriously enough to care to work that hard on amusing myself anyway. Plus I love the sound of something that was recorded while be written. The flaws, the trying to play something right but not knowing what it is you are going to play. It’s the way I’d rather work. It’s far more real than the music you work on for years, record a million times over, have other people change around your ideas, blah blah blah. That’s so not for me. I leave that shit to the bands like The Plain White T’s (whom I was a couple years older than when we all went to school together mind you, not to mention the releationship they had with that band I was once in called Showoff that helped in some ways, not that I am saying they owe any success or anything to me or Showoff, I’m just saying we did play a small roll maybe and now this run on sentance in the middle of this post is done)(but wait….just how many years and times did those Plain White T’s release that damned Hey There Whatsherfuckingname song anyway….pathetic….really done now). So the album will be called Things I wake up With In My Head, because the song I did this morning was something I woke up with in my head. Original huh?! Should have it and anything else I work in posted on myspace at the Riotous page as soon as Myspace Tom takes all those dicks out of his face and ass and gets the site up and running proper so I can upload the god awful thing already. I hate that Tom bastard. I am done now. See ya!
