Well guitars on 6 tracks are now complete! About 3 hours and a lot of beer later we  had to call it a night, but not before taking this wonderful group photo.

We are just about done recording bass tracks for The Unstables record. (most of) They are hgere right now. You should all be very jealouse right about now. Maybe we need to have a webcam so you can see them in action. So that is really all I have to say because I should be working, you know, recording n all that shit.

So I’m sitting around trying to find music to listen to and nothing was found but some doom metal that was actually enjoyable except that all the bands were just one-man projects so all the drums are programmed and sound funny. Any recommendations?

Punk band The Unstables just left here a short while ago. Jacob recorded 14 songs worth of drums in a single day! More like 5 hours of actual work to be honest with you. They sound great. So the next step is for Uber Terry to record 14 songs worth of bass. This should be done sometime this week. From there Hayden and Lindsey will have to come track all their guitars. Then Terry and Hayden for vocals. Hopefully all of this will go equaly as well and quick and we can get the first release from The Unstables out in the world for all of you to hear. Even better we hope all 14 songs turn out the way we want them to so we don’t have to cut any from the album. That will be mostly up to the band when they hear it all though. 14 is a good number of songs I think. Well, that is all I have for now. Time to relax a little for the tonight. I’m off like a bra.

I have toyed with the idea of putting out a comp sometime and I just can’t seem to make up my mind. There are all kinds of reasons that make sense to put one out, but then again, who really listens to the things? Then there is the whole, do we do it with ONLY Riotous Records bands or do we do it with anyone who is accepted? I have also thought about doing one of just music from the state of Kentucky since we are not only based here in the middle of the state, but also because you never hear much about bands from Kentucky, but there are TONS of them! I know if I were to put one together, I would do everything in my power to make sure that there are more changes in quality and style of music as possible. I hate comps full of the same kinds of music for 50 minutes, but by all different bands that when mashed together onto one album all sound the same. Plus, there is no real way for a band on a comp to make anything, usually bands actually PAY to be on a comp. The loss of money is great, but the exposure for all the bands who otherwise may not ever be heard by someone who bought it for a few bands on it they like is priceless. So now my personl problem with putting out a comp can also be yours. Should we do it, or should we just leave it alone? Would you buy it if we put it out?

Well, I wasn’t really going to start work on an album that I would consider my “solo” album any time soon, but I tracked a song this morning that is that start of just that! I have too many other things going on to say that this will be something I will have done any time soon, but who knows. The song only took about 3 hours to write, record and mix. I hate to perfect things and I hate taking too long on anything when it is my own stuff. Go figure. Imaine how much better I could do if I just took the time to develop and write a song properly. Well, I will never know because I don’t take myself seriously enough to care to work that hard on amusing myself anyway. Plus I love the sound of something that was recorded while be written. The flaws, the trying to play something right but not knowing what it is you are going to play. It’s the way I’d rather work. It’s far more real than the music you work on for years, record a million times over, have other people change around your ideas, blah blah blah. That’s so not for me. I leave that shit to the bands like The Plain White T’s (whom I was a couple years older than when we all went to school together mind you, not to mention the releationship they had with that band I was once in called Showoff that helped in some ways, not that I am saying they owe any success or anything to me or Showoff, I’m just saying we did play a small roll maybe and now this run on sentance in the middle of this post is done)(but wait….just how many years and times did those Plain White T’s release that damned Hey There Whatsherfuckingname song anyway….pathetic….really done now). So the album will be called Things I wake up With In My Head, because the song I did this morning was something I woke up with in my head. Original huh?! Should have it and anything else I work in posted on myspace at the Riotous page as soon as Myspace Tom takes all those dicks out of his face and ass and gets the site up and running proper so I can upload the god awful thing already. I hate that Tom bastard. I am done now. See ya!

Seriously! I love cool weather. Winter is my favorite time of year. Ice Hockey is heaven to me. Playing in the snow is something I actually look forward to. Then there is this. It is currently 1 outside right now. This kind of cold is just stupid. Sure if I lived in a place that was supposed to be cold like that, then I would have nothing to bitch about, but I live in the center of the state of Kentucky and it should never get this cold here. At least I don’t think it should. I think I need to talk to someone about this. So since the temp has dropped so low it is stupid, how about this…. send me an e-mail dave@riotousrecordsusa.com from now until Sunday (1/18/09) night at 10pm Eastern and tell me what the weather has been like these last couple of days and in turn I will let you pick one of our releases that you really would like to have but haven’t bought yet for $1.00 and that includes the shipping! You know what to do.

First, welcome to my first blog post here at the Riotous Records site. Today I will explain to those of you who care, just why we have started switching our downloads from Snocap to Bandcamp. To be honest, Snocap sucks. They are slow, glitchy, and just plain ugly. I don’t like them. So why Bandcamp? Because it is better than Snocap. Yes folks, I am a simple person sometimes. Bandcamp is also faster, easier to use, cheaper for us and in turn cheaper for you. I am still working on uploading a bunch of stuff and will continue to post the new download widgets as they become available. I hope you find it easier to use. I think it would also be rather swell if some of you decided to put some of the widgets on your myspace, facebook, or whatever else you might have. We here at Riotous Records have a small staff and do not always have time to keep up with so many locations and you people posting this stuff is always a HUGE help! So what are you waiting for? Go try it out! Download something and then put the widget on one of your pages! That’s all I have for now. Be good kiddies. Over n out.
